Peppermint Bark is a delicious, classic holiday treat. A decadent triple layer mix of white and bittersweet chocolate is infused with peppermint flavors and crunchy pieces of candy.

It's easy to make and is one of the best DIY gifts for friends and family alike.
This easy 5-ingredient recipe takes just about an hour to make.
What You'll Need
- 24 ounces WHITE CHOCOLATE CHIPS - divided, melted
- 12 ounces BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE - melted
- 3 ounces PEPPERMINT CANDY - crushed
- ⅓ cup HEAVY CREAM
- ½ teaspoon PEPPERMINT EXTRACT
How To Make Peppermint Bark
- Place peppermint candy in a plastic bag. Use a rolling pin (or mallet) and crush the peppermint candy. Set aside.
- Turn the baking sheet upside down. Cover the back with aluminum foil. Set aside.
BOTTOM LAYER
- Use half of the white chocolate chips and put them in a glass bowl in the microwave. Set on high for 30 seconds. Remove and stir the chocolate. Repeat in 15-second intervals, stirring each time, until the chocolate has melted.
- Spread the melted white chocolate onto the baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across. Drizzle with crushed peppermint candy. Chill for 15 minutes in the fridge.
MIDDLE LAYER
- Combine bittersweet chocolate, peppermint extract, and heavy cream in a small saucepan. Melt over medium-low heat. Stir constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the fridge and pour the melted chocolate on top of the hardened layer of white chocolate. It's easiest to make three thick lines and spread each line with a spatula. Work quickly, but not rushed. Return the baking sheet to the fridge and allow to chill for an additional 15 minutes.
TOP LAYER
- Melt the second half of the white chocolate in the microwave using the method described above.
- Spread the final layer of melted white chocolate on top of the hardened dark chocolate. Drizzle with the remaining crush peppermint candy. Refrigerate until hardened. About 15 minutes.
- Cut the peppermint bark into triangles (or any other shape) and enjoy!
Recipe Tips and Tricks
Working with white chocolate can be tricky. If you don't like using the microwave, you can also choose to use a double boiler to melt the white chocolate.
But I simply find it a lot easier to use the microwave for this task. If you are using the microwave, just make sure to stir the chocolate after each interval.
Other recipes for Peppermint Bark use crushed candy canes. That works as well, but I've found that ordering a small tub of peppermint candy is a lot cheaper.
Especially if you're planning to make multiple batches. Peppermint Bark makes a great, homemade gift! This is one of my favorite treat bags.
Using the raised back of the baking sheet make it easy to cut the chocolate off once it's hardens. You can cut it into perfect triangles or choose a more organic look and break it without using a knife.
