Why We Love Cannoli Dip Recipe
EASE - Cannoli Dip is a quick and easy no-bake treat you can whip up in no time. The only things you’ll need are a hand mixer or a stand mixer and a bowl. You will be done in no time at all.
LIMITED INGREDIENTS. This recipe requires only a handful of ingredients. Everything you’ll need to make this awesome sweet dip can be easily found in your local grocery store if you do not have them readily available in your kitchen.
PLANNING - This is one of those great dessert recipes you can easily prepare a day in advance.
GREAT FOR SHARING - make a big bowl of this pure dessert bliss and let the party begin.
Ingredients
Ricotta - Keeping the main ingredient of the classic Cannoli filling holds this recipe up to the standard of an authentic Italian treat! For the best creamiest result, use full-fat or whole milk Ricotta cheese.
Mascarpone - This versatile and mildly sweet cheese thickens and adds volume to the dip.
Vanilla - It provides an enticing flavor profile and floral fragrance.
Cinnamon - Adds a warm and citrusy tone to the dip.
Powdered sugar - Makes the whipped cheese sweet, light, and fluffy!
Mini Chocolate Chips - Use semisweet chocolate chips. If you do not have this, you can grate or chop chocolate bars or blocks instead.
Variations and Additions
CREAM CHEESE - You may use regular cream cheese (American cream cheese) as a more budget-friendly option for mascarpone.
Although the flavor and texture will not be exactly the same, I don't expect that you'll get many complaints. 😉 It'll still be pretty darn tasty!
ADDITIONAL FLAVORS - You may also use other flavorings like orange or lemon zest, nutmeg, or almond extract.
GARNISHES - Have fun with this recipe and use other garnishes like sprinkles, cocoa nibs, coconut flakes, crushed nuts, M&Ms, and crushed cookies.
How To Make Cannoli Dip
This no-bake recipe couldn’t be easier to make! Waiting for it to chill before serving is actually the hardest part!
- Using an electric mixer, beat the ricotta and mascarpone in a large mixing bowl until creamy.
- Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and powdered sugar and beat until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Refrigerate for 15 minutes before serving.
Recipe Success Tips
If your ricotta cheese is too watery, it may result in a runny dip. If you notice this strain, first use a cheesecloth before whipping.
I generally find that you don't have to do this if you buy Whole Milk Ricotta from Trader Joe's.
Using a hand or stand mixer is highly recommended. Aside from making it easier for you, mixing it by hand won’t give you that creamy and fluffy texture.
Add the chocolate chips in two batches. The first half should be folded into the cheese mixture. Make sure to do it gently so it does not deflate. Use the remaining chocolate chips as toppings to create that beautiful finish!
If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
