This is a great little recipe for lunch or a quick dinner on a busy day. I like my Chipotle Chicken Wrap on the milder side. But I also share some tips you can use if you like a spicy chicken sandwich.

Chipotle Chicken Wrap Recipe Highlights

  • LEFTOVERS This is a great recipe for using up leftover chicken. You can use grilled chicken breasts, cooked chicken, rotisserie chicken, or fried chicken to make these simple wraps.
  • INGREDIENTSExcept for the chipotle mayo, everything will be in your fridge and pantry. If you are tight on time, you can make your own or use a store-bought version.

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients needed to make Chipotle Chicken Wrap.

CHICKEN – Use your favorite kind of chicken. Grilled, cooked, steamed, or fried chicken works! Chop it into bite-sized pieces.

TOMATO – Anything goes, Roma tomato, cherry or grape tomatoes, or my recent favorite, Trader Joe’s kumato tomatoes.

AVOCADO – This is a great recipe to use up leftover avocado slices. If

LETTUCE – I like romaine lettuce best. But you can also use iceberg, green leaf, or butterhead lettuce.

CHIPOTLE MAYO – You can make your own with chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, mayonnaise, lime juice, and honey. If you are pressed for time, pick up a bottle of chipotle mayonnaise from the grocery store.

WRAP – This is a very accommodating recipe. You can choose whichever wrap you like best. A classic flour tortilla wrap, whole wheat wrap, or tomato basil wrap all work well.

If possible, I will try to find an extra large wrap (10-12 inches). My local supermarket doesn’t carry that, so I usually end up using a 9″ wrap. It just means my wraps are a little smaller.

Variations

BACON – Back in my restaurant days, adding crispy bacon was one of the top substitutions, and for good reason. It’s delicious.

ONIONS – Red onions can add a bit of crunch.

PEPPERS – Red bell pepper is another ingredient you might like to add. Instead of “just” using tomatoes, you can make it using half tomatoes and half red peppers. If you like extra spicy things, add some diced jalapeno pepper.

CILANTRO – Fresh cilantro complements the chipotle flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Of course, French Fries are a classic side dish with this wrap. You can also serve it with sweet potato fries, Parmesan-Crusted Potatoes, potato wedges, or waffle fries.

If you like a healthy side dish, you can serve the wrap with a simple salad such as a chopped Greek Salad or Tomato Salad.

Leftovers

STORE – You can prepare the wrap and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to eat later in the day. If you have leftovers, I recommend covering them in plastic and storing them in an airtight container overnight. You can store the Chipotle Chicken Wraps in the fridge for 1-2 days.
