Ingredients needed to make Homemade Big Mac Sauce.

MAYONNAISE – This is the base of the sauce, giving it a creamy texture and rich flavor. I use regular mayonnaise, but you can swap it with light mayo or even Avocado mayo if you’re looking for a healthier option. Just keep in mind that the flavor might not be quite the same.

SWEET RELISH – The sweet tangy flavor of the relish balances out the richness of the mayonnaise. If you prefer less sweetness, you can use dill relish.

KETCHUP – Adds a bit of sweetness and tang, rounding out the flavor. If you want to reduce the sugar, you can use a low-sugar ketchup.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – A little acidity goes a long way in bringing all the flavors together. White vinegar or lemon juice can work in a pinch.

MUSTARD – I use yellow mustard for this recipe because it gives the sauce a bit of sharpness and color. Feel free to try Dijon mustard for a slightly different flavor.

SPICES – Garlic powder, onion powder, and classic paprika are the three key spices that help to give the sauce that classic Big Mac flavor we all know and love. The paprika also adds a subtle smoky note. I have also use smoked paprika, it changes the flavor, but everybody in my house loves smoked paprika on basically anything. Again, this is where you can get a bit creative and see what you like best.

SUGAR – We use just a bit of sugar to add some sweetness and balance out the more tangy ingredients.

Leftovers and Storage

STORE – Keep your homemade Big Mac Sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. It’s great for meal prep or to have on hand for quick meals.

FREEZE – I do not recommend freezing any mayonnaise-based sauces as they can separate when thawed.

REHEAT – This sauce is meant to be served cold, so no reheating is necessary. Just take it out of the fridge and give it a quick stir before using.

MAKE AHEAD – You can make this sauce up to 5 days in advance. The flavors only get better with time!
