- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ¼ teaspoon salt optional
Preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine ⅓ cup of powdered sugar, butter, and the spice mix in a large bowl or stand mixer bowl. Blend until the butter the mixture is creamy.
Slowly pour in the flour and blend the dough begins to turn into large clumps.
Remove the dough from the bowl. Use your hands and form little dough balls. Place the dough balls onto the baking sheet.
Bake the cookies for 20 minutes at 350° Fahrenheit.
Remove the chai spiced cookies from the oven. Allow the cookies to cool for a minute. Use the remaining powdered sugar to drizzle over the warm cookies.
I like to dust the top of the cookies.
If you prefer you can also roll the cookies in powdered sugar. In this case allow the cookies to cool for a couple of minutes, until they are still warm but cool enough to touch.
Put the powdered sugar into a shallow bowl and roll the cookies until they are completely covered in powder sugar. Shake off the excess sugar.
Move the cookies onto a cooling rack to allow the sugar todry and stick to the cookie.
I try to provide as acurate a calorie count as possible, but with a recipe like this one it can't quite be done. I'll often just dust the top with powdered sugar to reduce the sweetness and thus the calorie count, but if you like a sweeter cookie, you'd roll the cookie in the powdered sugar. I've estimiate the higher calorie count.
